Imperial Fists Primaris Centurion Conversion "We need bigger guns"

Welcome back to Imperial Fists painting project part 2 (click link to part 1) Ever since the Centurions came out I was not a fan of the model, the concept idea I was fine, so when the Primaris Space marine strain came out it was always on the cards to upgrade these bad boys.

I included this image just so you can get a feel for how big I have upgraded them.

Even compared to a Primarch they are all most as tall.

I kit bashed these guys using the legs of the Primaris Inceptors, Heavy Intercessor helmets and greystuff tubing for a more armoured look to all cables.

As previously discussed I'm not a fan of painting yellow with browns so I have been experimenting with airbrushing purple up to white and then giving it an airbrush yellow ink wash.

I have been using Liquitex Acrylic Inks.

Then they are gloss varnished, inked and weathered.

Renegade knights Black Legion / Sons of Horus Conversion amendment.

Back in 2019 I converted an Imperial Knight into a Black Legion / Sons of Horus Renegade Knight it took me 18 months to revisit this build to create a close combat alternative and interchangeable weapon option, was the wait worth it?

My first renegade Knight conversion was my Khorne one with two daemonic sculpted claws and I wanted to revisit this still but extend the claws to a giant lightning claw style, where to start.  Luckily my son had started his Tyranid army and we had some spare giant scything talons and I also asked friends, Dwez and Otty if they could help, and they did.  You definitely need friends when it comes to conversions and never throw anything away ;)

I added plasticard to the sided of the bladed talons to give it a mechanical look rather than an organic look and converted the Imperial edging with green stuff and plasticard.  I added 8 spikes cut from spru and a chaos shield, and some guitar strings and hey presto there you go.

Renegade knights WIP images - and how they where made Part 4 Khorne Armiger Warglaives

Hi everybody, it has been a while since I started my mammoth task of creating a heavily converted Renegade Knight army.  So, I thought it was about time I showed my WIP images so you can see how exactly they where created, Welcome back to part 4 Khorne Armiger Warglaives.

One of my favorite models over the years are the Crypt Horrors, I have used these for many converting projects, they where also the inspiration for the Khorne Renegade Knight.  So as a homage to them, I used the backs of the three Crypt Horrors as inspiration for my daemonic possessed Armiger Warglaives.

First I wanted to have all the legs in different posses, so I cut up each set and re-positioned them

I also included daemonic claws on two out of the three sets.

I used cocktail sticks, spru and guitar strings to create the basic frame.

Then I started to use layers of milliput and green stuff building them up over several days.  I choose green stuff on the back bones as I thought they would be fragile if made from Milliput, green stuff has bend-ability :)

I intend to create the weapons and armour similar to Forge World's Gal Vorbaks.

I still think it was a good idea to give each one a back possession conversion, but, I came to a sticking point, what to do with the Heavy Stubber?  I thought about putting them between the legs, or under the chin or maybe even on a shoulder mount, in the end I decided to attach the Heavy Stubber underneath the main gun

For this Armiger I thought I would make him a little bit different and use a Blood Thirsters' Greater Axe of Khorne

Renegade knights WIP images - and how they where made Part 3 Black Legion / Sons of Horus

Hi everybody, it has been a while since I started my mammoth task of creating a heavily converted Renegade Knight army.  So, I thought it was about time I showed my WIP images so you can see how exactly they where created, Welcome back to part 3 Black Legion.

If you have been following this mini series you should be familiar with the two previous Renegade Knights and you can see I am a bit of a fan of Daemonic Possession.  I have been experimenting with how it would manifest itself, by adding a lot sculptural pieces to them, but for this one I wanted to do something different.  Rather than adding I've gone for reduction, particularly with the main daemonic possession Chaos 8 pointed star symbol on the main carapace.  This was achieved by applying a 1cm thick layer of Milliput underneath the carapace making sure I got into all the nooks and crannies, following the design that I had drawn on the top.  Once fully cured I used two different sizes of Holesaws to create the small and large circles on the design. I then used a Dremel to carve out the design.  Finally I used Brown stuff to sculpt the armour cracking and deforming around the branded style symbol.

As a small contrast to the brand I sculpted the Son's of Horus symbol on one shoulder armour using Green Stuff to create the same type of  armour cracking and deforming. On the other shoulder, which I have lost the image, I used the actual surface of the pad as the eye and created extra armour on top as if the eye to give the illusion of the eye forming under the armour and pushed the armour outwards and falling off.

Going back to my original thought of this Knight would be a reduction of it self, I clearly forgot this premise and failed when it came to crating the Battle cannon shield mounts.  And they became a little large and larger than I intended, luckily they fitted but only just....  The armour mounts are laser cut 3mm plasticard scuplted down with a Dremel to form sharp angular edges and on the reverse I have added Brown stuff replicating the front.

I used an airbrush for the fake light refection/highlight in the eye but the rest of the Knight was painted by hand
